Vision
CONSTRUCTION & TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
General Construction
Our strength in project management, field personnel and construction equipment with installation capabilities combined with our diverse personnel allows BCS to perform work such as: landfills; site remediation; stabilization; earthwork; roadwork; pumping stations; water treatment systems; sewers; bridges; dams; tunnels; foundations and other associated construction projects on contaminated sites or new development sites.
Landfill Remediation, Closure and New Landfill Cell Construction Services
BCS has performed nearly $602 million of landfill related work, including existing landfill waste excavation and relocation; remediation, closures and capping; new cell construction; gas venting, recovery and LFG Flare systems; leachate collection and recovery and treatment; and operation and maintenance services.
This work was completed nearly over 30 years at Federal, State, Municipal and private locations in the Northeast United States region. Our environmental safety services provide control programs significant to landfill closures and cell construction including soil and erosion control, dust and odor control and Health and Safety and air monitoring services.
Groundwater Remediation
Installation of groundwater recovery and treatment systems including deep wells, eductors, wellpoints, leachate collection and interceptor trenches for recovery of contaminated groundwater or free products. The systems can be combined with permanent or mobile on-site treatment systems. Operation and maintenance can be provided when requested. Treatment systems typically consist of construction of a treatment system complete with a foundation, structural building or building addition, plumbing/HVAC, electrical service and Treatment Equipment, such as process piping; instrumentation; tanks; carbon and sand filter systems and specialized treatment equipment. Specialized equipment installed has included UV/Ozone oxidation; air strippers; bioreactors; flocculators; clarifiers; catalytic / thermal oxidizers; metal precipitation systems; sequential batch reactors and other equipment. Completed nearly $32 million in groundwater projects.

Excavation
Our fleet of equipment enables us to perform any type of excavation that is required such as: deep excavations; landfill construction and closures; contaminated / hazardous soil excavation; trench work; tunneling; cofferdam construction and underground storage tank excavation and removal. Drilling and blasting has been performed when rock is encountered. Much of our deep excavation work involves the installation of sheeting and shoring for temporary earth support. In most cases interlocking steel sheeting is installed because it can be removed after its use.
Dewatering Systems
Utilizing our groundwater control expertise and pumping equipment, BCS can dewater a site using deep wells; wellpoints; wick drains; eductors; sump pumping and open pumping techniques. The exact system required will be designed and installed after careful analysis of site conditions including soil boring information, depth of excavation, groundwater level and the estimated flow of water to be controlled. We can also provide temporary water treatment systems for onsite discharge.
Slurry Walls
BCS installs slurry trench containment barriers, such as soil-bentonite, cement-bentonite, cement-bentonite-slag, to prevent underground seepage of liquid wastes and to isolate leachate from solid waste and prevent contamination of the groundwater. Slurry walls are also used as a cut-off wall and to control groundwater on construction and remediation projects. We also install reactive barrier walls. Completed nearly $22 million in slurry wall work.
Bio-Polymer Drainage Trenches
Biodegradable Bio-Polymer Slurry Trenches are constructed when there is a need to construct a deep leachate collection system or groundwater interceptor trench. As the trench is excavated and materials are removed, a Biodegradable Bio-Polymer mixed with water (Slurry) is pumped into the trench, which essentially supports the vertical sides of the trench. The Biodegradable Slurry permits the construction of deep continuous drains without structural bracing, dewatering or personnel in the trench. This eliminates hazards or risks commonly involved with trench construction, such as trench collapse, soil sloughing or heaving, to the personnel in deep trenches. Typical applications include deep leachate collection or the interception and collection of contaminated groundwater.
